The Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center became one of the first “green,” LEED-certified buildings to spring up after Katrina. Despite deep neighborhood devastation caused by floodwaters, Broadmoor neighbors were determined to rebuild the Rosa F. Keller Library. Architects created a sleek, modern space that flows easily into the adjacent historic, Mission-style home that has long served as a neighborhood community center.

The green, LEED-certified design reduces stormwater runoff from the site by nearly 60 percent. And the new layout encourages the community to read, use the library’s computers, or attend meetings and classes in the grand, wood-paneled rooms of the community center.
